A road-to-glory career follows one club upward. Lower-league selection belongs here because promotion changes the same project; a separate near-identical lower-league challenge page would add little.

Set the challenge rules
Choose the lowest playable division you want to manage in the database you actually load. Check that the league and intended promotion route exist in that setup. We do not publish an invented list of FM27 playable divisions or assume an unofficial expansion is compatible.
Define the finish line: reaching the top division, staying there or winning a chosen competition are different lengths of project. Decide whether changing clubs ends the attempt. If job changes are the attraction, the journeyman challenge is the more suitable ruleset.

Choose the starting project
Inspect positional cover, contracts and registration before using the whole available commitment on one player. At this level, a vacancy that prevents a workable starting side can matter more than an attractive long-term prospect. Check the actual offer terms rather than assuming a source-listed free agent is inexpensive or eligible.
Our current six club briefings do not provide a verified lower-division starting recommendation. Select a club from the loaded competition screen and record its real starting terms yourself. This deliberate gap is preferable to presenting a top-flight club as a lower-league recommendation or inventing a budget table.
Review the project without rewriting its rules
Use promotion as a reassessment point rather than a command to replace everyone. Compare the new level with the responsibilities the existing team can still perform. Keep continuity where it works and prioritise the role that most limits the next stage. Record departures and replacements against the same squad brief.
Maintain separate short- and long-term goals. A difficult survival year can still advance the project if the club gains dependable cover and avoids commitments it cannot sustain. Review what your own save says about finances and board objectives; this editorial challenge makes no promise of a fixed number of seasons to reach the top.
After promotion, inspect competition eligibility again before renewing fringe players. A squad place that was useful in the previous division may now serve a different registration requirement. Put the rule and its practical consequence in the season plan before spending on another player for the same role.
