Your match plan

Use the defenders role brief before comparing reported ability. The reference sample supplies discovery evidence, not a complete player report.

Write a defenders recruitment brief

A defensive vacancy is more specific than a request for another talented defender. A central anchor, an outside defender in a back three and a full-back protecting a flank face different receiving options and spaces to cover. Name the responsibility first so that your comparison does not combine unrelated jobs.

The young-player view includes recorded defensive and wing-back position codes from the same Launch Preview reference snapshot. A multi-position player can also appear in another role guide. That overlap reflects the source positions; it is not an attempt to present the same list as several independent rankings or claim that every listed role is equally suitable.

WBL / WBRRecovery demand and a reliable outside outlet

Read the role evidence in context

For a central defender, inspect the defensive line and the first pass after possession is won. If a partner repeatedly steps out, identify who covers the channel left behind. If both midfield outlets advance before the ball arrives, the defender may face a progression problem that another instruction cannot solve on its own.

For a wide defender, compare the position of the nearest winger and midfielder. Decide who supplies width and who remains connected after a turnover. A wing-back code is not evidence that the player has every attribute required for a high-intensity flank. The reference sample does not publish the individual values needed to reach that conclusion.

Review the next action after winning the duel

A defender can win the first contest and still leave the team under pressure if the clearance or first pass has no support. Include that next action in the scouting brief rather than comparing isolated highlights.

Keep the pathway and data limits visible

Plan which responsibility can be introduced without exposing the team to an unsupported task. A young defender may be able to learn alongside a stable partner, but the surrounding cover still needs to be present. Review the opponent and match context before treating one difficult appearance as a permanent judgment of the player.

Keep the development pathway separate from a predicted future fee. The database provides no asking prices or wages, and a high potential value does not establish transfer availability. Use the filtered shortlist to identify candidates, then verify the current report, contract and registration conditions in the same save where the signing would be used.

CA/PA use the reported 1–200 scale. A PA band must fit entirely within your minimum and maximum; lower-bound and ceiling sorting are separate choices. Unknown values are excluded by numeric filters. FC is the source code for central forward.
