Use the forwards role brief before comparing reported ability. The reference sample supplies discovery evidence, not a complete player report.

Write a forwards recruitment brief
The forward view separates a central finishing responsibility from a wide receiving or carrying job. A front line can contain several talented players and still lack the movement that connects it. Decide whether the squad needs an outlet, support for the striker, a runner beyond the line or a different option from the opposite flank.
The source records both ST and FC codes for central forwards and AML or AMR for advanced wide positions. We preserve those codes instead of manufacturing additional positional familiarity. Multi-position records can also appear in the midfield guide where their source positions qualify, but the role analysis here concerns the attacking connection.
| Responsibility | Evidence to collect |
|---|---|
| ST / FC | Striker support, first pass and movement on the last line |
| AML / AMR | Width, inside lanes and the full-back relationship |
| A partnership | Complementary movements and second-ball support |
| A development role | Actual minutes in the intended attacking job |
Read the role evidence in context
For a central forward, inspect where the nearest support arrives after the first pass. A direct route needs teammates who can respond to the next action, while a lone striker can become isolated if the creator is unable to receive. Compare the actual pattern before changing the finishing job or adding another forward to the same space.
For an advanced wide player, identify who holds width and who attacks an inside lane. The full-back, winger and nearest midfielder should provide alternatives rather than crowd one route. The source’s CA/PA values do not reveal dribbling, crossing, finishing or decision-making numbers, so those comparisons still require a current report in your save.
Judge chance creation as well as finishing
A striker’s missed chance and a striker never receiving a useful pass are different problems. Track the origins and support around opportunities before deciding that a new finisher is the only answer.
Keep the pathway and data limits visible
A development signing should have a plausible route into the kind of attack you intend to use. A crowded striker group or two established wide options may leave fewer opportunities than the squad list first suggests. Consider what the player would actually be asked to do before presenting a bench place as a complete development plan.
The shortlist is not a price ranking. No wages, fees or contract demands have been supplied, so the guide does not label a player cheap because their current ability is lower or their source club is less familiar. Keep budget decisions in the transfer process and compare football responsibilities within the selected source snapshot.

CA/PA use the reported 1–200 scale. A PA band must fit entirely within your minimum and maximum; lower-bound and ceiling sorting are separate choices. Unknown values are excluded by numeric filters. FC is the source code for central forward.
