Your match plan

Plan the delivery, the movement and the response when the ball comes back out. This is football planning guidance, not a verified FM27 menu walkthrough or a tested corner exploit.

Start an attacking routine with responsibilities

Choose the intended delivery area and ask who can realistically contest it, who creates an alternative and who responds to a clearance. A routine needs those connections before it needs more movement. The diagram is an original teaching example, not a claim that a particular near-post pattern beats the FM27 match engine.

Check the player evidence available in your own save for each assignment. A familiar name or a high overall ability value does not establish delivery quality, aerial suitability or the ability to recover. This wiki’s reference database does not contain those individual attributes, so it cannot rank your set-piece takers or identify a guaranteed target from the published CA/PA sample.

Defend the first contest and the next action

For defensive set pieces, inspect both the initial delivery and what happens when it is only partly cleared. A first contact that lands directly at an unopposed opponent can leave the team under pressure again. Review who deals with the second ball and whether any retained outlet can help the team move out together.

Treat team selection and substitutions as a reason to review responsibilities. Replacing the player assigned to an important contest can change the plan even if the routine’s name stays the same. Use the options actually visible in your preview build; the sources reviewed here do not justify inventing a complete FM27 setup wizard or assuming that an old-edition menu is unchanged.

Check recovery before adding another attacking runner

Identify the opponent’s likely outlet and the players left to cover it. Moving a further player into the box has a cost if the team can no longer slow or defend the first counter pass.

Review the chance pattern rather than a single goal

Keep a note of delivery area, first contact, second ball and the chance or counter that followed. Separate an unusual finishing outcome from a repeated positional problem. A short run of successful corners is not enough to advertise a universal exploit, especially when opposition strength and the game build can change the context.

The official additional-upgrades article mentions presentation changes around set pieces, but that does not establish the numerical effectiveness of a routine. Label any local test with its version and conditions, make one adjustment you can explain and preserve the previous setup for comparison. The same discipline helps with free kicks and throw-ins: decide the responsibility, inspect the evidence and review the next action.
